Snapchat splits social and media. It's The Daily Crunch.

THE DAILY CRUNCH
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29 2017 By Anthony Ha

Snapchat rethinks its approach with a new redesign, Microsoft is expanding its headquarters and Apple fixes a security flaw. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for November 29, 2017.

1. Snapchat starts algorithm-personalized redesign splitting social and media

In an op-ed for Axios, CEO Evan Spiegel said, "We are separating the social from the media."

More specifically, the redesign will place all messages and Stories from friends to the left of the camera (with content from your closest friends prioritized), while message and Stories from publishers and celebrities will show up on the right.

2. Microsoft announces huge expansion to 'modernize' its Redmond HQ

"Next fall, we will break ground on a multi-year campus refresh project that will include 18 new buildings, 6.7 million square feet of renovated workspace, $150 million in transportation infrastructure improvements, public spaces, sports fields and green space," the company said.

3. FCC's Ajit Pai: 'When it comes to an open Internet, Twitter is part of the problem'

The FCC chairman complained about how Twitter treats conservative users. He also dismissed criticism of his plans to undo the country's current net neutrality rules.

4. Waze gains support for HOV lanes, motorcycles and voice activation

The new features are either firsts for a navigation app or just super convenient.

5. Uber says 2.7M UK users affected by 2016 data breach

Uber only publicly disclosed the existence of the data breach this month, nearly a year after learning that hackers had accessed data on a total of 57 million Uber users and drivers.

6. Apple releases a macOS security update to fix huge login security flaw

If you're on a Mac, you should update right now.

7. All of Marvel's heroes come together in the first trailer for 'Avengers: Infinity War'

Avengers Assemble! (All of them.)
