THE DAILY CRUNCH
MONDAY, DECEMBER 11 2017 By Anthony Ha

1. Bitcoin futures are now tradable on the CBOE

Bitcoin prices were already surging last week, probably in anticipation of the first bitcoin futures products. Then yesterday, bitcoin futures actually started trading on CBOE. Within minutes, the price spiked to $16,200.

The CBOE website also went down, but this was mainly due to a spike in interest — not necessarily trading volume.

2. Apple to confirm Shazam acquisition today; Snap and Spotify also expressed interest

Several sources have confirmed to us that the deal is in the region of $400 million.

3. Internet pioneers plead with Congress to preserve net neutrality

Even though the FCC already ignored millions of letters from the general public, 21 high profile technologist are making a last ditch effort to preserve net neutrality.

4. Some HP laptops are hiding a deactivated keylogger

The keylogger is deactivated by default but could represent a privacy concern if an attacker has physical access to the computer.

5. Time's up for the Ticker? Facebook appears to axe feed for tracking your friends' activity

The Ticker used to appear to the right of your News Feed to summarize what all your friends have been liking, commenting on and doing on Facebook.

6. The NFL and Verizon's new streaming deal will bring games to all mobile carriers

Thanks to the new deal, nearly all NFL games will now be available across a number of Verizon-owned digital media platforms, including Yahoo, Yahoo Sports, AOL, Verizon's g90 streaming app and the NFL mobile app.

7. Menlo Security secures $40 million Series C to keep malware at bay
