Galaxy Note 8 and SpaceX's galactic fashion: It's The Daily Crunch.

THE DAILY CRUNCH
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23 2017 By Darrell Etherington

The Galaxy Note 8 is back and big, Uber's origin story in slides and Elon has this year's hottest intergalactic fashion trends. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for August 23, 2017.

1. Samsung's Galaxy Note is back, despite last year's problems

Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 arrived today. Brian got a first look, and was generally impressed. It looks like a solid build based on the S8 and S8+ base.

The new dual cameras, both of which feature optical image stabilization, might be the most interesting difference between this and Samsung's existing flagship.

2. Uber's first pitch deck revealed

How did Uber get started wooing investors? Co-founder Garrett Camp dropped the tech company's original pitch deck, so now you can see. Wanna feel old? Blackberries featured prominently.

3. Elon's space suit is probably the best space suit

At least in terms of fashion sense. SpaceX's CEO shared the first ever image of the spacsuit they plan to use with astronauts on their first crewed missions, which looks like it's out of a very stylish sci-fi movie about the near future. I'll take 12, please.

4. Walmart is using Uber to help expand grocery delivery

How do you hold off the powerhouse that is Amazon? Walmart is hoping Uber will help. It's working with the ride share company on grocery delivery expansion plans, to help it gain more ground quickly.

5. Apple said to be launching self-driving employee shuttles

Apple's self-driving effort has faced challenges, according to a new report, but it's still planning on doing something interesting with its autonomous vehicle tech: self-driving employee shuttles to bring people between its campuses.

6. YC Demo Day 2

Summer's sunset is upon us, as you can tell because it's Day 2 of Y Combinator's demo day, featuring a heckload of new startups angling to make their mark on the world.

7. Pepper can now send you off to the ever-after

Pepper can officiate funerary services, which is extremely unnerving. Mall greeter, sure – usher for the spirit departing this mortal realm? Not so much.
