Firefox wants to make a comeback with Quantum Firefox once ruled the browser world despite tall odds against it, but it's fallen way behind Chrome and others. Now, it's coming back with a new browser overhaul calls Quantum. As its name implies, it's hoping to beat the competition in terms of speed and efficiency. But in this modern browser era, are speed improvements delivering diminishing returns in terms of the average user's ability to judge? 2. Apple might add TrueDepth features to back camera The TrueDepth features on the front-facing camera of the iPhone X make Face ID possible, but they enable a lot more beyond, including Animoji. It would definitely benefit the back camera too, and that might be on the way in future iPhone hardware according to a new report. 3. GoPro Fusion 360 camera shipping now GoPro is shipping the 360 camera it unveiled earlier this year – though a number of software features won't be available until early 2018. GoPro has a lot riding on this expanding their market opportunities, but it's probably honestly not going to move the needle that much. 4. YouTube starts taking down more extremist content YouTube is now taking down videos of known extremists, even if the videos themselves aren't espousing any particularly extremist viewpoint. The expanded guidelines are designed to help it clamp down tighter on content that may incite extremist action. 5. HTC cancels plans to build standalone Daydream headset One of two partners who were announced as building standalone Google Daydream headset hardware has backed off from their project. HTC is no longer making such a device, though Lenovo continues to work on theirs. This could have to do with HTC selling a bunch of its business to Google, but more likely it's just the VR opportunity slowing down overall. 6. Apple Watch could be useful in medical diagnoses, study finds The Apple Watch could accurately detect conditions including hypertension and sleep apnea according to a new study conducted by UCSF.
