| Tesla wows with its new Roadster, and also delivers a unique kind of semi truck. All the electric car things and more in The Daily Crunch for November 17, 2017. 1. Tesla surprises with a brand new Roadster Tesla had its "1.9 more thing" moment (yes that's an actual Elon Musk quote) last night, with the surprise reveal of its brand new Tesla Roadster following its Tesla Semi truck unveiling. The 1.9 refers to how many seconds it takes to get from 0-60 mph, which is an unheard of number for a production car. Apple can seldom surprise us like it did with the original iPhone, but Musk definitely pulled off that feat with this Roadster reveal. 
2. Tesla reveals its huge new electric Semi Tesla's new Semi is a truck built for drivers, and it shows. You sit in the center, racecar style, and the thing accelerates faster than most cars (0-60 in just 5 seconds), with impressive pickup even when towing 80,000 lbs. We still need to know price, but Musk made a convincing argument that the trucks are cheaper to operate than diesel versions, at least. 3. FCC could be planning a death blow vote to net neutrality next month The FCC is planning a vote to essentially kill off its own net neutrality rules, potentially as soon as next month. That's terrible news from a body that's already done a lot to reverse good work done by its predecessors. 4. Boston Dynamics' Atlas robot is getting hella unsettling Hey, Boston Dynamics – your videos are cray cool. But also, a robot that is this nimble is bound to be slightly terrifying to your audience of soft meat beings. 5. Apple's first VP of diversity and inclusion is leaving Apple created a VP position for diversity and inclusion back in May, and appointed Denise Young Smith to that role. She's now leaving the company, however, after not too long on the job. 6. Spotify acquires a startup music studio Spotify has acquired a startup, which built a collaborative recording studio you can use in the cloud to create podcasts and music tracks. Spotify seems increasingly to be providing creator tools, perhaps as a means of eventually generating content without having to rely so much on labels. 7. Justice League doesn't look great but it's fun DC's answer to the success of Marvel's Avengers movies has bad CG and is "terrible" in places according to Anthony, but that doesn't stop it from being a good time. |
