I'm challenging you to think like a beginner to create successful products.
Forget about all the advanced strategies, tips and tactics. Forget about the science behind why it works. Forget about everything and think back to the first day you learn about your topic.
(whatever it is)
You see... we tend to over-complicate and over-analyze the product creation process. We have this uncontrollable urge to cram in as much information as possible about the stuff we've learned through the years.
But overwhelming your customers with a ton of 'extra' information, industry jargon, and fluff doesn't make for a great product.
Information product creation is about creating a guide for people to follow.
Here are 6 questions you want to ask yourself to get into the beginner's mindset.
- What do they really want to achieve? What the end goal?
- What limiting assumptions could they be making?
- What do they believe about their current situation?
- What are they missing?
- Where are they pushing hard with no results? What is missing from their approach?
- What don't they know that they need to learn?
I hope these questions help. I use them to brainstorm new product ideas.
